Start the first quarter of the New Year with activities that would boost your mind as you dive into 2018. From capacity-building to tech, these naija events happening across major cities, like Lagos, are packed with the robust programmes. Check out these, naija events, to be on the lookout for in 2018

 

1. Tech Summit Ogun

Tech Summit Ogun would be hosted in Ogun, the state with the highest number of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, on Thursday, January 18. If you are a tech enthusiast this would be a great place to meet and network with a diverse number of technology leaders. This naija event is expected to converge about 1,000 innovators, executives, disruptors, influencers, investors and entrepreneurs, with the aim of “leveraging technology and home-grown innovation for development and growth in Ogun State, through the emergence of startups, technology-based businesses, civic-tech initiatives, specialized markets and other digital initiatives.

 

2. Techpoint Build

Techpoint Build (an initiative of Techpoint.ng) would be hosted live in Lagos, the largest city in Africa and the fastest growing city in the world, on Saturday, January 27. This naija event is expected to converge over 5000 attendees, over 30 speakers, over 1000 startups, over 300 exhibitions, over 50 investors in one place! Other side features include Free SME/Startup clinic, a troubleshooting session for startups; PitchStorm, startups get to pitch to a panel of judges and one startup will win ₦1,000,000 in no-equity. If you are enthusiastic about startup, technology, retail, e-commerce, communication, government inclusion, funding/investment, export, social innovation, consider attending TechPoint Build. 

 

3. Thinkation

Thinkation Conference (an initiative Ubong King Foundation) will unveil strategies for infusing thinking into education.  THINKATION (Thinking + Education) “is aimed at challenging the paradigm by creating premium platform that facilitates networking, synergy and most importantly discussion on how to position for productivity by engaging the mind.” This naija event is happening live in Lagos, on January 19th, at the breathtaking Civic Centre in a prime area. 

 

4. Lofty Heights Conference

6. Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

This is for all the “fit-fams” and lovers of sports. The last two editions of this event was a huge success and the 3rd edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, scheduled to hold February 10th at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, is going to be litastic! A 10-kilometer Family Fun Race has been included to encourage participation from indigent (Nigerian) non-professional runners for fitness, fun and health purposes (it is NOT for professional runners or elite athletes and Winners will get brand new cars from GAC Motor)

 

7. SLAY Festival

Ladies and Gents with ladies are you ready to slay at the She Leads Africa SLAY Festival, happening live in Lagos on February 17? This naija event is a one-day celebration of all things incredible, magical, innovative, and entrepreneurial about young African women. Get ready to hear from inspirational speakers, engaging brand activations, consultants corner for free business advice, entrepreneur exhibitions, live musical performances, and much more.

 

8. Social Media Week Lagos (SMW Lagos)

What would the world of millennials be without social media? It has gradually become an essential tool for communication this age. Social Media Week Lagos, in its 6th year, is Africa's largest digital media and tech event! The event happening live in Lagos at the Landmark Centre from February 26th to March 2nd.
